It’s the first win against Carter in over 10 years, The Eisenhower Varsity Baseball team defeated Carters baseball team 10 to 5 yesterdays game. Coach Mr. Cortez says “Denzel Sahagun turned in another great performance. He pitched 5 innings while allowing only 2 earned runs. ” Making this Denzel’s 3rd win in league play and since he is only a sophmore Eisenhower has another two years of his excellence on the team. Carters Lions played equally as hard as they had out hit the Eagles 9 to 6, yet our Eagles were able to work 5 walks, and were able to, as Mr. Cortez states “deliver some very clutch hitting.”.
Denzel Sahagun was not the only stand out player yester day as Josh Aguilar hit for a single, 2 walks and managed 4 stolen bases. Eisenhower felt like kids in a candy shop as they had 8 stolen bases as a team yesterday. Alex Chocoza had 2 hits, including a double, a stolen base and 2RBIs. Brandon Lopez worked a walk and displayed some of the best base running the Eagles have seen in years. Eric Gutierrez was able to close out the game and slam the door for the Eagles.
