As you may or may not know, Eisenhower High School has many clubs and many extra curricular activities. Some clubs are well known and some aren’t. One of these is The Greater Than I Christian Club that wants to bring the teachings of Jesus and the bible into Eisenhower High School. The club’s purpose is to bring people to salvation through Jesus Christ and start building from there. The club’s main goal is to build people to where they can tell others about Jesus and evangelize. This all started with Mr. Gonzalez He was first involved in a Christian club at college and then met people from all around the world and had opportunities to share the gospel with them.
Mr. Gonzalez has been the advisor of Eisenhower’s Greater than I club since August 2018 and wants to help others. The club values the students and wants them to know that they are loved and have a purpose. Some people can lose hope in the world and then some can think to give up on life. Some are confused in life and don’t know their identity and that’s where this club helps . The Greater Than I Christian club brings hope in knowing that God does know our identity and finds purpose in life. The club also helps develop great speaking skills which is very important for jobs. This club empowers students to be put in a position where they can be used by God. When you are used by God you will feel an accomplishment and a feeling that is true happiness.
Now, I know many people have different beliefs and some might be offended by this Christian club. However, Mr. Gonzalez said, “Don’t dislike something without trying it.” Many people judge Christianity immediately without actually understanding it. Mr. Gonzalez and the Christian club don’t force Christianity on you, they just encourage you to think about it and maybe try it out and see what Christianity is about. The Christian club encourages you to try it out, to check out the club and consider attending and see what the club is all about. The club teaches you to go to God first instead of going to the world to seek fullness. Mr. Gonzalez won’t force you to be a Christian but he and the club will encourage you to make the right choice. It’s the same with God, because He is love He won’t force you to do anything but He will try to bring you to the truth because in the end we will all have a choice to make.
The Greater Than I Christian club encourages you to join because they want to teach you what truth is. They believe the truth is God, He is the way, the truth and the life and they believe the truth is that Jesus is the way to salvation, John 14:6. I encourage you to try out this club, everyone is welcome regardless of their beliefs. They have meetings every Wednesday before school at 8am, after school and during First lunch in Room H4.
