Under the Friday night lights on October 17, 2025. Eisenhower High School faced off against Jurupa Hills for the annual Homecoming football game. With a bright neon theme inspired by Rio Carnival, the stands lit up in color as students, staff, and families came together to celebrate. Amid the energy, the halftime march stood out as a moment dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, featuring student groups carrying posters designed to honor the cause and celebrate the neon theme.
The game kicked off with strong energy on both sides. Eisenhower took an early lead when #23 Treshawn Thurman scored off a clean pass from #9 Elijah Necochea at 1:02 in the first quarter, putting the Eagles up 7-0. Through the rest of the first half, both teams fought for control, trading dives and defensive stops as the tension built heading into halftime.
When the clock paused after the second quarter, the focus shifted from competition to community. Eisenhower’s field glowed with pink posters and team pride as students from every corner of campus marched in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It wasn’t just a walk, it was a statement. Our band led the way, followed by ASB, Link Crew, ASL, Dance, Choir, Cali Club, Wrestling, Cross Country, Boys Water Polo, Girls Volleyball, Girls Tennis, and Cheer. Together, they filled the field with unity and energy, showing that at Ike, the fight for awareness runs deep, and our voices strong.
During halftime, following the parade, the homecoming king and queen were announced. The two king candidates were Mekhi Aubrey and Gerry Ojeda, while the eight queen candidates included Melanie Gomez, Cristina Guerra, Ron’Nya Rudd, Alexis Zarazua, Eva Valdez, Emily De Lira, Cambria Cortez, and Lorraine Alamillo. In the end, Gerry Ojeda ended up winning the race for homecoming king with Ron’Nya Rudd being crowned homecoming queen. Congratulations to the two! After celebrations concluded, the game resumed.
As the game returned, both teams kept up the intensity. The second and third quarters saw a lot of back-and-forth action, with Jurupa Hills pushing hard but Eisenhower’s defense holding strong. In the fourth, the momentum shifted fully back to the Eagles when Thurman broke through once again, scoring at 11:06 to seal the game. Eisenhower walked away with a 14-0 win built on resilience, and teamwork!
The night closed on a high note as students, staff and family celebrated the victory over Jurupa Hills and shared excitement for the homecoming dance that followed the next day! Between the march, the victory, and the cheers from the stands, Ike proved that spirit begins to shine brightest when the community stands together.
