Many things happen in our world, some things happen even around us. During winter break, thieves broke into a storage bin at Arroyo Highschool and stole $14,000 of baseball equipment. Arroyo Highschool is located in San Bernardino, California, they have been a public high school since 2001. Although there isn’t a specific date, their baseball team has been here a while. Arroyo Valley Highschool Baseball has its ups and downs and the team was very devastated by what happened. On January 14, 2026 an Instagram post was made from Inlandwire talking about what happened.
When the Coaches assessed the damage they knew that the thieves drilled or used certain tools to break in. $14,000 was lost that day and the Coach had this to say, “What hurts me the most is that two kids’ stuff was in there” (One of the Coaches). The thieves took two kids’ baseball equipment, a pitching machine, baseballs, bats, and catchers gear, according to Inlandwire it says, “…and stealing over $14,000 worth of baseball equipment.” This was very sad for the baseball team. They come back from their families and from enjoying winter break to this. So, when their next game was in a couple weeks, hope seemed to slip away.
But, on January 15, 2026 at 8:58am this Facebook post was presented, “We are incredibly grateful to Supervisor Joe Baca Jr., for his generosity and support following the recent equipment theft at Arroyo Highschool…”(San Bernardino City Unified School District). So, with a picture provided, Joe Baca generously gifted Arroyo Valley Highschool Baseball a check of $1,000 to help cover some of the damages. Even though a lot has to be made up, Joe Baca helped give them a hope to not give up and this is a good starting point for them. This may encourage some to try and help and support the baseball team in any way possible and if that’s you then there is a way for you to help.
Arroyo Valley Highschool has put a wish list for anyone who wants to help too. Inlandwire said, “The team is now actively working to fundraise in order to replace the essential items…” A link was provided to their Amazon wishlist so if you feel that you want to help then you can go to their wishlist list or reach out to the coaching staff at @arroyovalleybaseball. This should take you to their instagram and there can be some more info. If you are encouraged to help then do so, people need to know what’s happening in our world so that we can help each other. There are a ton of things happening out there and it’s good to be aware of these things so that it can be thought about and cared for by others. Hopefully everything that was lost will be found.
