Rio Carnival Theme
This year’s Homecoming theme at Ike was Rio Carnival-a celebration exploding with color, rhythm, and excitement. Inspired by the world-famous festival held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the theme embraced vibrant colors, tropical accents, masquerade masks, and bold flamboyant outfits adorned with feathers.
Most of the event featured bright, vivid decorations with some neon accents sprinkled throughout helping create a tropical scene within the quad and gym. The lights reflected off colorful banners and student’s outfits, creating a space full of motion and life. Students also helped run the schools concession stand offering snack, drinks, which added to school spirit and giving the attendees a taste of carnival energy.
During the dance, neon light-up glow sticks were passed out, adding an electric and dynamic touch to the night as students waved them around the crowded dance floor erratically under the flashing lights. The overall vibe of the theme was to bring high energy, fun and togetherness- capturing the same spirit of Rio’s famous parades and street celebrations.
Hooco’s Court Winners
The 2025 Homecoming court was filled with many dedicated, talented, and spirited students from across campus activities. This year’s Princess candidates included Giselle Cardenas (Leadership),Victoria Gonzalez (Wrestling), Terrena Harris (Cheer), and Aariah Rios (Softball) .Running for Prince uncontested was Paul Arsen (Football).
The Queen candidates were Lorraine Alamillo (Sobobans), Cambria Cortez (Softball), Emily De Lira (Leadership), Melanie Gomez (ASL), Cristina Guerra (Band), Eva Valdez (Cross Country), Alexis Zarazua (Choir), and Ron’Nya Rudd (Cheer). The two King candidates were Gerry Ojeda (Link Crew) and Mekhi Aubrey (Dance).
This year’s competition was especially fierce for the Queen and Princess titles, with many students representing a wide variety of clubs and sports.The winners were announced during IKE’s Homecoming football game against Jurupa Hills. During the Halftime show Gerry Ojeda was crowned king, and Ron’Nya Rudd was named Queen.Later, during the Homecoming dance, Paul Arsen and Victoria Gonzalez were crowned Prince and Princess.
Games and Events
Homecoming night featured a wide array of activities for everyone to enjoy. Students could be found racing through the inflatable obstacle courses, testing their patience at ax throwing , or shooting hoops in the inflatable basketball setup.A gaming truck drew in massive crowds throughout the evening, while two DJs one in the quad and another in the gym- kept the energy high as the students moved between the two areas.
Food vendors served Hawaiian Plates and shaved Ice Ice cones, offering a refreshing break between dancing and games. With long lines filled with laughter, and lively music in the air, Ike’s Rio Carnival Homecoming proved a night worth remembering.
