The Roots Of Rosewood

Rosewood is the newest Pop-Punk and Post-Hardcore band on the scene made up of cousins Eddie Ruiz on lead guitar and vocals, Ryan Rodriguez on bass and harmonies, and Anthony Gomez on the drums. The band’s name, “Rosewood” comes from the street they grew up on but it did take them awhile to settle on the name. The band’s sound is a combination of the variety of themes in 2000s rock and the unique styles of the musicians in their family such as Eddie’s uncle and Ryan’s uncle Edwin. Influenced by bands like Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and Pierce the Veil, Rosewood channels the soul of the music they grew up on while transforming it into something they can call their own.
The Seeds That Formed Rosewood
The band’s beginnings trace back to the fall of 2023, when Eddie rediscovered his love for guitar after years of letting it collect dust. Motivated by his uncle’s songwriting style and inspired by the rock bands he admired, he began to practice regularly and decide to perform at his birthday party for family and friends. Around the same time, Anthony’s dad gifted him a drum set so he could join. When Eddie’s first choice for drummer dropped out, Anthony took initiative and stepped up, officially starting what would become Rosewood.
Ryan would later join the band performing with them for the first time at a Spring Concert in May and again at Eisenhower’s Senior Sunrise. These events marked a turning point within the band solidifying the group’s lineup and the chemistry they shared. Though each member faced personal challenges-Eddie’s self-doubt, Ryan’s growing ego, and Anthony’s push to improve his skill as a drummer-their shared determination and goal of creating a successful band helped them push through uncertain times. Through constant practice and perseverance they managed to out grow these issues emerging stronger and more unified as group.
The Sprouts That Shape Their Songs
Rosewood’s songwriting process begins with Eddie composing riffs or finished songs, which Anthony then expands upon by incorporating drum patterns. Ryan then comes in with bass lines and harmonies that round out the sound. Each member has very distinct music style that contrast with the others-Eddie’s fast and upbeat rhythm, Ryan’s slower melodic tone and Anthony’s blend of rock and hip-hop influences. This unique combination of styles comes together to create an energetic and emotional sound giving Rosewood a sound that feels familiar almost nostalgic but completely new at the same time. The song the band feels that best represents this is “EXP”

Looking towards the future, the band hopes to expand beyond local shows, by performing at well-known festivals and touring across the country. They also plan to collaborate with other rising artists and-Anthony’s father, who has had a major influence on the band. For Rosewood, their music is more than just sound; it’s way to escape reality and embrace our youth again even if only a moment.
With each performance and challenge they overcome, Rosewood continues to bloom-growing stronger, defined, and ready to take root in the music space.
