Music has a way of capturing emotions that are far from easy to explain with normal words. That is exactly what Sarah Kinsley does in her newest EP titled Fleeting. This project feels personal, reflective, and deeply emotional. She blends dreamy indie pop production into deeply reflective lyrics, shifting from only telling a single story. The EP moves through moments of longing, heartbreak, reflection, and acceptance. Each song feels like a snapshot of a feeling that someone experiences for a short time, but never fully forgets. In that way, Fleeting feels less like a collection of songs and more like a brief emotional journey.
As a whole, Fleeting explores the idea that emotions and experiences in life are temporary. Kinsley described the project as music about yearning, love, and personal change—allowing yourself to feel deeply even when you recognize those feelings will not last forever. The EP was written during reflective moments while traveling through New York City, capturing quick emotional flashes of thought and memory. Because of this, the title becomes the main message of the project. Moments pass quickly, but they still shape who we are. Instead of resisting that inevitable change, the EP suggests that there is beauty in accepting that everything is ultimately temporary.
The Track list
The opening track, Lonely Touch, immediately introduces the EP’s theme of longing. The song explores the overwhelming desire to connect with another person. Its lyrics focus on the emotional intensity of wanting to understand someone completely and share a deep moment of closeness. The song builds with powerful synths and piano as the emotions grow stronger, reflecting the feeling of yearning that drives much of the EP’s story.
The second track, Truth of Pursuit, shifts toward the emotional aftermath of a relationship. The lyrics reflect the “what ifs” and lingering thoughts that often follow a breakup. Beginning with a soft piano, the song creates a dreamlike atmosphere that mirrors the meaning of its title. Through vulnerable lyrics and a gradual emotional build, Kinsley reflects on how people sometimes escape into dreams or fantasies before finally facing reality.
In After All, Kinsley collaborates with Paris Paloma in the EP’s first and only duet. The song focuses on the complicated feelings that remain after a bond has broken. Both singers reflect on the painful realization that love is not always enough to make a relationship last. The track’s orchestral instrumentals and layered vocals emphasize the emotional weight of that realization, making it one of the most dramatic moments of the EP.
The closing track, Fleeting, brings the entire project together. While the earlier songs explore longing and heartbreak, this final track offers a sense of acceptance. The song reminds listeners that intense emotions are temporary and that life continues to move forward. Kinsley even emphasizes that “it’s not forever, it’s just a feeling,” reinforcing the EP’s central idea that everything eventually passes. Through this message, the EP ends not with sadness, but with a quiet sense of understanding about the fleeting nature of life.
