NCSA: What is NCSA and how does it help athletes?
NCSA is a nonprofit organization used to give students the opportunity to become a professional in the sport you’re playing in. If you’re someone who plays soccer for a living and wants to make it pro, but you don’t have enough money or don’t know where to start? Then let me introduce you to NCSA or the Next College Student Athlete recruiting. As NCSA said themselves, “NCSA is the largest college athletic recruiting platform in the United States…” They specialize with recruiting in 31 different sports all around the U.S and having over 40,000 coaches using NCSA to recruit players. NCSA will help you get into college and at the same time get you recognition in the sport you’re currently playing.
What’s the recruiting process?
Moving onto the recruiting process, NCSA’s way of picking new recruits is by funneling it down to just the few remainders that stood strong and made it through. Coaches hand pick players that they know can make it professionally, to partake in the funneling process. For the more popular sports this can range from hundreds to thousands of players from all across the country. Using highlights, camps and interviews with the recruiting, they can start removing them one by one.
What are the coaches looking for?
One of the things that coaches commonly look for first is a basic athletic ability. When trying to get recruited by NCSA, and with it being very important to even be considered getting recruited, you’re definitely going to need some basics of athleticism. Next, is a stable academic life and not stressing about classes and grades. If you’re worrying about maintaining your grades then maintaining both school and soccer is definitely not fitted for you. NCSA takes your academic life incredibly serious, since if you’re providing bad grades or start, then you’ll become ineligible to participate in the NCSA program. After grades, your character is also important.. Without a decent personality to go with either your grades or athleticism then coaches wouldn’t consider you as a good candidate. Along with everything else that’s been mentioned, personality is super important. Finally, an important factor coaches look for is your location. Your location is somewhat important since you’d be having different coaches looking at you depending on where you’re located. If you’re located in a state that doesn’t offer a team that you want to go to or a team that wants you then you’re out of luck with that. Wherever you’re located could influence the programs in which they’d be recruiting you to.
Clubs: What official benefits do Soccer clubs give athletes?
Soccer clubs are regarded as one of the most important stepping stones when it comes to progressing as a soccer athlete. Clubs could either make or restrict players’ abilities to grow as a whole, by themselves and with a team. Clubs open more opportunities to become a professional player as you start to put yourself out there. With such opportunities given to you it’s clear that you have to give back in return and with that you’ll be spending both your time and money to develop yourself as an athletic individual. Depending on the club you try out for, you’ll know how much you’re going to pay as the coaches should explain the main details like practice times, costs, locations, etc.
The benefits of joining a soccer club
The benefits include but are not limited to; team work, cooperation, increased strength and balance, stress relief, improved focus, and just overall improved health. These factors aren’t as plain as they sound and there is some depth to these factors like with cooperation, you’re not just cooperating with your teammates but with your coaches and other officials. You could also have the chance to get first hand experience from retired professional soccer players, which’ll give you a look at what you’re trying to achieve and how much more you need to do to get to their level.
An inside look at a couple soccer clubs
Taking a look at a notable club that, along with every other club, wants to improve players’ soccer skills, first include SSC or Soccer Stars Soccer Club. On their website, Soccer Stars states, “Soccer Stars offers the nation’s most popular youth soccer program for kids of all age groups.” They also state that SSSC has over 20 years of experience. They have different age-specific programs specialized to improve the young athlete’s soccer and social skills, and build their self-confidence. The purpose of Soccer Stars is to help children improve their soccer skills.
Final Thoughts
I believe that even though soccer is a competitive sport and needs extreme amounts of focus and hard work to become a professional soccer player, you should also have a backup plan if you tragically don’t make it pro. College would be the best option in becoming a professional soccer and gaining an education if that doesn’t turn up. NCSA would definitely be the path I would consider the most in taking. You as a player, should also look into other ways on how else you’d become a professional soccer player. I don’t think clubs would be as beneficial with academics which is what I’m more focused on rather than actually becoming a professional soccer player first. Sure some clubs do have tutoring instead of practice but that’s not enough. NCSA has programs to help you get better grades if you’re slipping or just purely want better grades. Now with that being said these are my final thoughts of what college soccer and professional soccer clubs are and what they benefit for you.
