My passion is fingerboarding and fingerboarding is very simple to explain. It is like skateboarding but instead of using your feet and risk getting injured you use your fingers to hint the name “fingerboard”. Fingerboards came around the same time as skateboards were starting to get popular so in the 1960’s and 1970’s which started off as homemade small skateboards used out of home appliances. Then companies began making keychains that were fingerboards and the first real look at a fingerboard we’ve seen was a homemade fingerboard used in the Future Primitive Video in 1985.
They then began to get mass produced in the late 1980’s then we got our first look at “Tech Deck” in 1998 and started flooding the streets immediately selling 20 million boards that year! It stayed the same for a while then around 2000-2010’s people decided to make changes with the boards instead of plastic decks they made the switch to 5-ply maple wood which gives off the same feel as a real skateboard. The plastic breakable trucks on the techdecks? They were switched to real metal trucks with rubber bushings to provide more pop on the board. The plastic wheels became rubber mini’s with real bearings so the wheels can spin, giving an all new feeling to fingerboarding. I am very passionate about fingerboarding because when I was a kid I used to love skateboarding until my skateboard got ran over and I never wanted to feel that same feeling again. My dad noticed how hurt I was and decided to buy me a fingerboard. It was an off brand tech deck but I loved every second of it even ignoring my video game half the time since the board just gave me so much fun. Even though I never knew how to do a trick I still like the feeling it gave me when I tried to do tricks. I stopped for a while but recently started to fall back in love with fingerboarding again. I started again last year in December and haven’t stopped since and continue to learn new tricks while getting that same satisfaction I felt years agowhile also giving the same satisfaction like on a real skateboard you remove the likelihood of you getting injured since you are not skateboarding which is way more dangerous then fingerboarding. There are many reasons for fingerboarding and I got others like me to buy one for themselves so don’t knock something until you try it.
