Ever since Pope Leo XIV became the Pope on May 8, 2025 he has both helped the Church and her community along with receiving many love and gifts. One of the most recent gifts he has received is a Mosaic portrait. Pope Leo XIV received the Mosaic portrait on January 14, 2026. Along with receiving the Mosaic portrait, the Mosaic portrait will be placed in St. Paul’s Basilica outside of its walls. A Mosaic portrait is an image made of smaller materials such as: glass, paper, and tiles. Which all together forms a Mosaic portrait, a beautiful picture with a lot of detail as well as looking realistic. If talking about Christianity and the pope, Mosaic portraits are involved a lot with both of them. For example, in Orthodox Christianity Mosaic portraits are involved a ton by making Orthodox Christian icons. Both inside and outside of a Orthodox Christian Church are filled with icons of Jesus and saints, all made with paint and made with a mosaic portrait style. In Catholicism, especially now, Mosaic portraits are also involved a lot in Catholicism. Mosaic portraits in Catholicism can be portraits of: Jesus Christ, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Pope Francis, Popes, saints, and others.
Pope Leo XIV, also known as Robert Francis Prevost, was elected pope in the month of May, Thursday May 8th 2025. Pope Leo XIV was born on September 14th, 1955 in Chicago Illinois. Pope Leo XIV grew up with two brothers: his eldest brother named Louis Martín Prevost, lives in Port Charlotte Florida married to his wife Debroah Prevost. Louis Martín Prevost served in the Navy as well. His second oldest brother, John Joseph Prevost, is 71 years old and is both a tired educator and principal. John lives in Lenox, which is a suburb of Chicago. John spends time with his brother Robert now by playing Wordle and Words with friends in a brotherly competition. We do the Wordle and we do the Words with Friends, and then I usually now ask him who did you meet famous,”
Pope Leo XIV became the 267th Pope to receive a Mosaic portrait. A tradition holds where every single Pope starting from Apostle St. Peter all the way to Pope Leo XIV receives a Mosaic portrait. What the Mosaic portraits symbolize is Apostolic succession; Apostolic succession is when somebody is a successor of an Apostle and the process continues. For example, the Catholic Church has Apostolic succession because of the priests, bishops, and Popes because they can all be traced back to an Apostle making it Apostolic succession. Pope Leo seemed very excited and happy to see his Mosaic Portrait!
